Event Update – December 3, 2025
Officials have announced an updated schedule for the Birds of Prey World Cup races at Beaver Creek due to shifting weather conditions and snow in the forecast. The men’s downhill race — originally scheduled for Friday — has been moved up to Thursday at 11 a.m.
Friday will now serve as an off day before racing continues over the weekend. The men’s super-G is scheduled for Saturday at 10:30 a.m., followed by the giant slalom on Sunday with runs at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Because of limited snow coverage at lower elevations, all races will now finish at the Harrier jump, with athletes skiing down to the traditional finish zone to meet fans. More than 130 elite skiers from 27 nations are expected to compete this year.
All of Friday’s pre-race festivities have shifted to Thursday, including free live music in Beaver Creek Village and back-to-back screenings of Warren Miller’s SNO-CIETY at the Vilar Performing Arts Center. The village will remain lively throughout the weekend with live music, athlete autograph sessions, a live bib draw on Friday, and the 10th annual Beers of Prey celebration on Saturday.

While the opening downhill set for Thursday, December 4, has been tentatively removed from the schedule, there’s hope it could be added back if weather conditions improve. The Vail Valley Foundation, the local organizer, remains optimistic about reverting to the original program should snow production meet expectations.
Beaver Creek’s Challenges and Preparations
After a brief delay due to warm temperatures and limited early-season snowfall, Beaver Creek officially opened for the season on Sunday. The resort’s communication manager, Eric Dunn, noted that snowmaking teams worked around the clock to capitalize on a recent cold snap, focusing on building a solid base and getting key terrain ready for guests and racers alike. While terrain will continue to expand as conditions allow, the mountain is now open and welcoming skiers and riders.
In addition to the races, all village festivities will proceed as planned, offering a lively atmosphere for visitors. The festivities kick off on Thursday at noon with free live music in Birds of Prey Way and back-to-back showings of Warren Miller’s new film “SNO-CIETY” at the Vilar Performing Arts Center.
